Tapans (davuls)

What are these?

A traditional tapan or davul is a double-headed large drum, usually with goatskin drumheads, stretched and tuned by cords. These are commonly equipped with strap attachment points, as well as an extension slot for additional instruments, like a cymbal or a cowbell.

Variants

Our tapans are available in traditional design or a more robust, outdoor optimized design, with heavy use in mind. The latter can be equipped with plastic drumheads and either with cords or metal hoops and lugs, which allows tuning each side individually.

Who’s interested in it?

Tapans are one of our most popular products. They are widely used by folk and world music bands, therefore, we are open to, and try to make every customer request possible from the type of cord to the shape of hoops.
